Late Night Roundup: The First African President — Donald Trump

Trevor Noah realized that Donald Trump’s campaign style is in fact very presidential — he’s just like some of the more notorious presidents from back in Trevor’s home continent of Africa. Indeed, Trump’s many notorious quotations resemble exactly the likes of Idi Amin, Muammar Gaddafi, Robert Mugabe, and many more.

Stephen Colbert sat down with Secretary of State John Kerry, to talk about the Iran nuclear deal. Kerry also spoke about the relevance of his experience in Vietnam: “What I learned in Vietnam is pretty simple: It was a war in which too many of my friends — and died, I believe, under circumstances that might have been averted had different choices been made by people in positions of responsibility. And I vowed that if I was ever one of those people in a position of responsibility, I would do everything in my power to make sure that young men and women in America were never sent to war unless it was a last resort.”

Larry Wilmore highlighted the mounting tensions with Russia, in the Syrian conflict.

Seth Meyers looked at the latest talk of panic among Democrats about Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers — along with the admission by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) that the Benghazi special committee’s key accomplishment was to bring down those poll numbers.

“I don’t think you were supposed to give away that was your plan,” Seth said. “Haven’t you seen a James Bond movie — the minute you start talking about the plan, he gets away.”

Visitors to Oklahoma’s State Schools Superintendent’s personal social media page will notice a post vowing to “ban Critical Race Theory, protect women’s sports, and fight for school choice,” a post linking to a Politico profile of him that reads, “Meet the state GOP official at the forefront of injecting religion into public schools,” a photo of him closely embracing a co-founder of the anti-government extremist group Moms for Liberty, and a video in which he declares, “Oklahoma is MAGA country.”
